Licence summary 21 days

Hi Everyone, On the 8th June 2015, DVLA had made a change to all UK full licence’s. When hiring or renewing your car insurance, you will need to supply either with a licence summary.

The licence summary is now the new counterpart of your licence, this will show all hire companies and insurance companies your Endorsements if any and vehicles you can drive.

To obtain your licence summary, you simply go to DVLA website, put in your driving licence number, national insurance number and postcode on the driving licence.

The licence summary is now valid for up to 21 days, which has made it more flexible for the user to download when they have time to.

If you do have trouble printing the licence summary or are unable to do so, make sure you bring the same requirements into Halesowen Self Drive and a member of the team will print the necessary licence summary for you.

  • To keep things simple, we just ask that you return the van with the same amount of fuel in as when you collected it
  • Please bring your licence, an official letter dated within the last 3 months matching the address on your licence and a valid Licence Check Code from the DVLA
  • Bookings that include a Friday, Saturday or Sunday require a £20 part payment to secure. Please call the office to make this payment once completing your booking
  • If moving home, we'll need some evidence of your new address too
  • Due to the high number of recent thefts of our vehicles, we will require you to return the vehicle by 5:00pm on the day of hire unless you have arranged to drop-off the following morning between 7:30am and 8:00am. Speak to staff if you have any questions

Licence Summary

Hi All, as you may or may not be aware of new rules when renting any vehicle with your license. You are now required to produce what is called a licence summary upon arrival for your hired vehicle. The way to obtain this licence summary is to go on the DVLA website where they require your driving licence number, national insurance number and postcode code, which can be found on the bottom of your licence. Enter these details where stated and proceed to share the information; this is where you share the information with your rental company. Here you need to click the create check code which will appear in big writing in the middle of the screen. Just below that it says, view and print and this will bring your licence summary up and ready to print. If you still have problems doing this, please bring your national insurance number with you as well as your licence, and our team will proceed with your driving licence summary.

Obtaining a Licence Check Code

From 8th June 2015, the paper counterpart of your driving licence will no longer be valid. Therefore, in order to hire a vehicle, you will need to produce a Licence Check Code from the DVLA so we can verify your details.

This is a simple process that is carried out online and just requires you to enter your driving licence number, National Insurance number, and your postcode into the Gov.uk website. You will be able to view all of your licence information online and will be given the option to “Share your licence code”.

Just click on the button to create a code, and you will be given a code that is valid for 21 days (remember to make sure your code is still valid before you come to see us).

Then all you need to do is bring us a valid licence code, your driving licence and a utility bill when you come to collect your hire vehicle.
